LaLiga continues to innovate and explore new ways in which supporters can enjoy content in the world of sport. After showing the Copa del Rey and LaLiga World fixtures on YouTube, another historic moment is fast approaching: a football match will be broadcast live on Facebook for the first time ever.
With the help of beIN Sports, the competition's official broadcaster in Spain, all football fans will be offered a unique experience. The match, which will see the league leaders take on the club two places below them at 11:45 CET on Saturday 28 May, will not be subject to any geoblocking and will be available in every country in the world.
The initiative is a further demonstration of LaLiga's commitment to live broadcasts on social networks, as seen during the presentation of the LaLiga4Sports project, which was followed by almost 85,000 viewers on its Facebook page on 21 April.
The clash between Atletico Madrid Women and Athletic Club Women will be the curtain-raiser for the project, with two of the best teams in the top flight doing battle at the Cerro del Espino Stadium. The home side currently find themselves in third and are targeting a top-two finish which would secure a place in next season's Women's Champions League. The visitors, coached by Joseba Agirre, sit atop the Women's First Division at present having lost only once so far this season, although second-placed FC Barcelona are breathing down their necks in second, just a single point behind. Champions League places and the title are at stake in Madrid.
The clash on Saturday 28 May at 11:45 CET will be shown on facebook.com/LaLiga.
