Rayo Vallecano 1-0 Real Sociedad
Two teams with Copa de la Reina aspirations met in Vallecas and it was the hosts who prevailed. With neither side able to take control of the game, it was an end-to-end affair that was settled just after the hour mark, when Natalia Pablos hit the woodwork with a penalty but was fastest to react, putting away the rebound. La Real had the chance to snatch an equaliser in the dying stages, but an unmarked Paola Soldevila headed over from a corner. Despite ultimately claiming the spoils, the match had a sour note for Rayo, who saw Laura Codonal forced off with a bad-looking knee injury in the 20th minute.
Zaragoza CFF 0-6 FC Barcelona
Xavi Llorens's charges brushed Zaragoza aside with a masterclass of attacking football. The Catalans had the upper hand from the outset and created three clear-cut chances inside the opening 15 minutes. However, they did not break the deadlock until the brink of half-time, when Mariona Caldentey converted from the spot. Olga Garcia's strike from distance doubled the scoreline, before Barbara Torre's deft finish, Gemma Gili's brace – including an excellent volley – and Irene del Rio's sublime chip sealed the deal. On this evidence, Barça are not out of the title race by a long shot.
F. Albacete 3-5 Levante UD
The fans in Albacete were treated to a veritable goal fest, although it is the visiting supporters who will have gone home the happier, after seeing their side showcase their fantastic firepower to come out on top. Strike partners Maria Jose Perez and Charlyn Corral accounted for all five of Levante's goals, the Spaniard notching twice and the Mexican bagging a hat-trick. Matilde Martinez (2) and Maria Arranz were on target for the home team.
UD Tacuense 0-5 Valencia CF
Third-placed Valencia ran riot in Tenerife to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches. Cristian Toro's troops were 2-0 up within the opening half an hour through Yanara Aedo and Mari Paz Vilas, both of whom subsequently doubled their tallies after the interval, and Marta Peiro rounded off the rout to heap more misery on Tacuense, who remain adrift at the foot of the table.
Athletic Club 2-1 Santa Teresa CD
An early goal from Finnish debutant Tia Halinen gave Santa Teresa real hopes of capturing all three points in Bilbao. However, Athletic responded impressively and drew level when Maria del Puerto put through her own net. Yulema Corres completed the turnaround with a flicked finish a quarter of an hour into the second half.
Sporting Huelva 2-3 Atletico Madrid
Despite being without Nayeli Rangel, Laura Rus and Sandra Castello, Sporting gave the league leaders a real run for their money in what was an engrossing encounter in Huelva. Indeed, the home side twice went ahead through Cristina Martin-Prieto, only for Liga Iberdrola top scorer Sonia Bermudez to restore parity minutes later on each occasion. An Andrea Falcon effort after exactly an hour eventually clinched the contest, although Atletico had Andreea Paraluta to thank for the victory, the goalkeeper making two fine saves in the latter stages.
RCD Espanyol 1-1 Granadilla Egatesa
Espanyol's long wait for another win goes on for another week. Despite getting their noses in front in the very first minute through Luana de Lima, the Catalans were unable to hold on and had to settle for a draw that keeps them rooted in the drop zone.
Real Betis 1-0 Oiartzun KE
The Andalusians got back to winning ways after last matchday's gut-wrenching loss to Athletic. Rosa Marquez's solitary strike just before half-time was enough to secure the spoils, although the Basques spurned plenty of chances to claim a point. The result leaves Betis looking up towards the Copa de la Reina spots and Oiartzun looking over their shoulder in the relegation battle.
