RC Deportivo de La Coruña and Real Sporting de Gijón drew 1-1 in Sunday’s first game in the 26th round of Liga Adelante fixtures. The Galician side are second whilst José Ramón Sandoval’s team remain third.
The game started expansively with both sides having chances. Sporting pressured in the opening moments, however Deportivo reacted and as the minutes ticked by they started to get back into the game, even if they had very limited opportunities. The visitors did create chances however, and they took advantage of one of them to put themselves ahead thanks to a right-footed effort from defender Bernardo Espinosa. A little after, the home side should have pulled level but Borja Bastón missed a penalty.
The Asturian side looked more dangerous in the second half. The Red and Whites played on the counterattack, and looked to seal their win, however they were unable to take advantage of the numerous opportunities that they created. Central midfielder Diogo Salomão should have done better with an effort from the edge of the box. In the final moments, Deportivo camped outside Ivan Cuéllar’s goal, and Toché popped up with a header in the final moments of the game as the points were shared out between both sides.
