Eibar got a 2-0 away win against Córdoba in a Liga Adelante matchday 25 encounter in which the rain played a major role in the New Arcángel Stadium. This victory, as well as the fact that Real Sporting were held to a draw with Ponferradina, means the Basque side climbs to second place in the league, one point above the Asturian outfit.
Gaizka Garitano’s men, aware that they were playing in one of the most difficult grounds in the division, piled on the pressure from the start. Cordoba defended well and created a few chances of their own, but in the end the persistence won out when Jota Peleteiro finished off a well-worked move.
The Andalusians tried to control the ball and turn things around in the second half, but the rain and nerves got the better of them in the end. With ten minutes left on the clock, and Córdoba enjoying their best spell of the match, a mistake by Mikel Saizar between the sticks was capitalised on by Morales, who put the game beyond reach for the home side and moved Eibar to second in the league.
