SÁB 18.01.2025
The current LALIGA EA SPORTS campaign is halfway completed and it’s clear who the stars of the season are so far. Atlético de Madrid lead the way, holding a one-point advantage over Real Madrid, while they are six points above FC Barcelona and eight ahead of Athletic Club. Currently in the European places are Villarreal CF and RCD Mallorca, while Real Sociedad and Girona FC are just behind.
As for the battle to avoid relegation, there are several teams sweating it out to avoid going down to LALIGA HYPERMOTION, such as Valencia CF, Real Valladolid, RCD Espanyol, Deportivo Alavés, CD Leganés and Getafe CF. Others, including Sevilla FC, have to be careful too, as they’re at risk of slipping into the fight if they don’t pick up victories.
On an individual level, several footballers have stood out with their impressive LALIGA performances this term, including Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Vinícius, Kylian Mbappé, Julián Álvarez, Antoine Griezmann, Álex Baena, Ante Budimir and Oihan Sancet.
After the first round of LALIGA EA SPORTS, Lewandowski leads the Pichichi and Ayoze Pérez the Zarra
Robert Lewandowski, the FC Barcelona striker, is the current leader of the LALIGA EA SPORTS Pichichi race. He leads the quest to finish as the top scorer, having netted 16 goals in the 18 games he has played. He is almost scoring at a rate of a goal per game, after he started the LALIGA season in blistering form with 14 goals across the first 11 matchdays.
His closest challenger is Barça teammate Raphinha, who has 11 goals in 19 matches. He is having his best scoring season in LALIGA since his arrival two and a half seasons ago. The Brazilian is playing brilliantly, contributing to all aspect of Los Blaugrana’s explosive attack.
Then, on 10 goals, are Ante Budimir and Kylian Mbappé, who have hit double figures while playing 19 and 17 games respectively. The Frenchman is one of the star players in LALIGA EA SPORTS following his arrival at Real Madrid in June, and he is scoring goals for Los Blancos, as he was expected to do. In the case of Budimir, he is enjoying a stellar season and is one of the main reasons why CA Osasuna are in mid-table and looking towards the European places.
As for Spanish goalscorers and the race for the Zarra Trophy, awarded to the Spaniard with the highest goals tally, it’s Ayoze Pérez who is currently in the lead with his haul of eight goals. However, he is closely followed by Oihan Sancet and Sandro Ramírez, on seven each. Although Ayoze Pérez has had a few injuries, when he has been available for Villarreal CF he has been a key player. Signing the Spain international from Real Betis has clearly been a coup for El Submarino Amarillo.
Lamine Yamal is the king of assists in LALIGA EA SPORTS
FC Barcelona’s Spanish winger Lamine Yamal is the top assist provider in the competition at the halfway stage. The 17-year-old keeps getting better and better and is proving to be one of the most decisive players in LALIGA EA SPORTS. In 16 games played, he has already provided nine assists, in addition to scoring five goals, so he is registering almost one goal contribution each game.
In second-place in the assist charts, it’s Raphinha. He has set up six goals so far, in addition to his 11 scored, so he is also coming up with a goal contribution almost every game too. When adding the two assists Robert Lewandowski has to his name, the FC Barcelona front three have a total of 32 goals and 17 assists to their names.
Other players who are standing out when it comes to assists are Alex Baena, Óscar Mingueza, Iñaki Williams, Jude Bellingham, Vinícius and Bryan Zaragoza. They have each provided five and are enjoying productive seasons in LALIGA EA SPORTS, while Antoine Griezmann is right there too with four.
Álex Remiro is best-positioned in the Zamora race
Real Sociedad’s Basque goalkeeper, Álex Remiro, is the current leader in the battle to win the LALIGA EA SPORTS Zamora Trophy, awarded to the goalkeeper with the best goals-against record. He has achieved 11 clean sheets in 19 matchdays, letting in just 13 goals so far. Only Jan Oblak of Atlético de Madrid has a superior record, having let in 12 goals, but the Slovenian has played a game less so isn’t as close to meeting the minimum appearances threshold as Remiro.
David Soria is also well-positioned, as the Getafe CF goalkeeper has let in just 16 goals in 19 matches. That gives him a goal-conceded ratio of 0.84 goals per game, which isn’t far off the 0.68 of Remiro or the 0.67 of Oblak. Soria even saved a penalty in the last matchday, as José Bordalás’ side won away at UD Las Palmas.
A wide range of players have picked up one of the LALIGA AWARDS
At the end of each month over the first half of the season, the best players in the competition have been recognised via the LALIGA AWARDS. The Player of the Month prizes have gone to Raphinha in August, Lamine Yamal in September, Lewandowski in October, Vinícius in November and Jude Bellingham in December. In other words, the stars of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have won all the Player of the Month awards so far. However, there are other individual prizes too, like the Coach of the Month award, won by Hansi Flick in August and October, Ernesto Valverde in September, Míchel in November and Diego Simeone in December.
As for the best saves of the month, Diego Conde and Marko Dmitrović have won it twice each, while Jan Oblak claimed it in October. Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal has picked up the Best U-23 award, as have Luka Sučić, Fábio Silva and Alberto Moleiro. Finally, the Best Goal prize has so far gone to Juan Cruz in August, Abdul Mumin in September, Luka Sučić in October, Munir El Haddadi in November and Ladislav Krejčí in December.
The first half of the LALIGA season has produced so many great matches and individual performances, wowing the fans week in week out. Now, it’s time for the business end of this LALIGA EA SPORTS campaign, when the final positions and the winners of the individual awards will be decided.
