Ponferrada enjoys hot streak

Ponferradina is a club with plenty to be happy about lately. After a league campaign mostly spent trying to avoid the drop, the León side is now enjoying a positive start to the season, and sits in second place in the Liga Adelante with 11 points from its opening six encounters. One of the high points of this impressive start came last weekend, when the team thrashed Hércules CF 5-1 (going 3-0 up in the first 21 minutes).

This was not just any result for Ponferradina, as before last week the team had never scored more than four goals in a single Liga Adelante match. Coincidentally the only time the club managed to score four goals in the Liga Adelante before then was also against Hércules during the 2006/07 season. The last time the team won a match by four goals was when it beat SD Eibar 4-0 back in March of last year.

Up next the team will take on CD Mirandés in Anduva this Sunday at 17:00 local time. The away side currently sit ninth in the league, just one point off Ponferradina.
